Noticing and Nurturing Nature
My fondest childhood memories are saturated in the natural world. My days were filled with hours of outdoor-play making mud pies and dandelion salads for friends, turning over rocks to observe a community of insects, and listening to the unique calls of songbirds. As my love for the natural world grew, so did my understanding of the strong relationship between nature and childhood behaviors. This ecological approach to education and childhood development sparked my desire to create Hummingbird Hill Collective.
Our mission at Hummingbird Hill Collective is to provide both children and adults with enriched program experiences which will promote social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative development. We use research-based curriculum practices to implement developmentally appropriate early childhood education with nature at its core. Hummingbird Hill Nature Preschool Programs will foster each child’s intellect, love of learning, and strength of character while providing an expansive, educational foundation that helps children transition into the kindergarten classroom and eventually the world. Hummingbird Hill Collective’s Teacher Training Programs provides courses for caregivers to develop their exploration and understanding of the concept of nature-based learning.

“HHNP has given my daughter the opportunity to learn from a teacher who nurtures her curiosity and fuels her love of learning. Lessons are taught through exploration, play, and friendships. The campus is absolutely stunning and there are potential adventures in every nook and cranny of the space. We’re so happy we made the switch to a nature preschool where outdoor education is combined seamlessly with the comforts of Ms. Heather’s home.”
